Paula Hawley-Evans Art
Contemporary oil painting

ABOUT

Paula Hawley-Evans is a contemporary artist living in Lytham St Annes in the North West of England. In 2026 she took early retirement from her role as a Consultant in Public Health in local government to devote time to her artwork.
Paula uses oil and acrylic paints to capture people and place. She promotes the positive benefits of art for improving health and well-being encouraging people to get involved in creative activities or simply viewing art in all its forms to take a moment of quiet reflection. As a Public Health Consultant, she was involved in the Faculty of Public Health’s Art and Health Special Interest Group and received a service award in 2025 from the Faculty for her work on promoting art and health.
Her passion for painting began in school where she studied A-level art. However, her art journey took a pause whilst she pursued her career that took her and her family across the UK and to New Zealand where she rekindled her love of art. This continued when she returned to the UK and settled in Lancashire.
She has been a member of Lytham St Annes Art Society for over a decade and regularly showcases her work in local exhibitions.

In 2023 she took part in Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year competition as a wildcard at Liverpool’s Albert Dock. In 2022, she completed a diploma in oils at the Norfolk Painting School run by the award-winning Artist Martin Kinnear. She continues to develop her practice by attending a range of workshops and demonstrations.

Her work is figurative taking inspiration from a range of artists past and present including Degas, Hopper, Modigliani and Martin Kinnear. She enjoys walking and visiting galleries to broaden her knowledge and get inspiration to continue to develop her practice as an artist.
